CORRECTION: A previous version of this story named Ira Isaacs as the creator of “2 Girls 1 Cup,” when in fact, he merely cited the iconic gross-out video in his defense. “Two Girls One Cup” was created by Brazilian producer and fetishist Marco Antonia Fiorito.

A director of scatological pornography who defended himself from obscenity charges using what became known as the 2 Girls 1 Cup defense—named after the notorious viral video in which two women appear to defecate into a cup, eat it, vomit it up, and then eat that vomit—has been sentenced to four year in prison for.
Ira Isaacs, 61, “made obscene videos in which he instructed women to engage in sexual activity involving human bodily waste,” and was convicted of producing, selling, and distributing the video, the Department of Justice said Wednesday.
Isaacs has told Adult Video News that he used a mixture of chocolate, peanut butter, and “something bitter” in his videos to simulate feces. In court, he described himself as a “shock artist,” and cited artists like Marcel Duchamp as inspiration.
Judge George King, however, prohibited Isaacs from describing the “artistic merits” of the video. According to the Supreme Court, material can’t be defined as obscene if it has “serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.”
Isaacs’s trial focused on the beastiality-heavy Japanese Doggie 3 Way and several other full-length, scat-heavy movies like Hollywood Scat Amateurs #7.
Isaacs had previously cited 2 Girls 1 Cup as inspiration that poop porn could become widely popular. “Until I saw 2 Girls 1 Cup, I wouldn’t have thought so many regular people would want to watch this stuff,” he told Radar in 2008. “There are millions of people watching it.”
After receiving his sentence, Isaacs maintained that his work does have artistic merit, and that he plans to appeal.
“Bottom line is the artist determines their art,” Isaacs told adult industry news service XBIZ.
