InfoWars host Alex Jones said pornography that was spotted on his phone during a broadcast earlier this week was because of a “porn pop-up.”
As the Independent pointed out on Tuesday, a link to transgender pornography was spotted on Jones’ phone earlier this week. A gaffe? Sure. But, what kinds of porn people watch is their business.
However, numerous people pointed out the choice of pornography was odd considering his transphobic diatribes were part of the reason he was handed a warning on YouTube before he was ultimately taken off of several social media platforms and websites including Facebook, Spotify, iTunes, and others.
The link appeared to be to a video featuring Marissa Minx, an Australian transgender adult film actress. The link popped up while Jones was promoting his “personal wellness products.”
On Wednesday a caller on InfoWars asked Jones specifically about the porn showing up on his phone, saying “that’s all they keep talking about.”
According to the host, who is notorious for spreading conspiracy theories on his show, the link was just a “pop-up.”
“I saw a couple of news articles about that, it’s ridiculous,” he told the caller. “I was like looking up some reporter we’re trying to hire today and punched in some number and it popped up porn on my phone. Everybody has had porn pop-up on their phone, hundreds of times. So I’m sitting there with a phone on air, showing it to everybody, because I couldn’t get a URL up in the studio, and then like some thing pops up and ‘oh my God.’”

After the call, he added:
“There’s two types of people: people that look at porn and people that lie about it,” he said. “I wasn’t looking at porn on my phone. I don’t take phones on air that I look at porn on.”
