Two weeks ago redditor hihi_birdie posted about how her 8:30 a.m. physics lab made her lusty. When someone else in the lab noticed the post, the two became instant Reddit celebrities. In the U.S., a “curious” vocal pattern has crept into daily speech, most prominently among white women. It’s called the “vocal fry,” a kind of croaking at the very lowest end of speech registers. In an /r/science thread, redditors collect a half dozen or so examples of the pattern. One well known example includes podcaster Grammar Girl. But be forewarned: Once you can recognize the vocal fry, you’ll never go back. It’s annoying. And if you live in the U.S., you’ll start hearing it everywhere. (/r/science)

If you’ve got a question, make sure to stretch your fingers and drink a few cups of coffee so you can get your question in a few milliseconds after the thread opens, as we’re guessing this AMA will be kind of popular.
